Here's a poem I wrote earlier this month that voices the continual cry of my heart over the past several weeks -
heartsoft
Keep my heart soft
Tender and warm
To live and feel
With a heart that's alive
To love and cherish
With a heart that's true
To hope and dream
With a heart that's full
Don't let the arrows
Harden and chill
Keep my heart soft
Tender and warm

Your post caused me to read Ezekial 36 and what a blessing! Verses 26-27 echo other scriptures which resonate with me as God's promises of future covenant, now fulfilled in Jesus and written upon our hearts as He promised. Now our hearts can truly be changed and in fact made new. And His Spirit placed inside of us! Promises to take to heart and rejoice over! Glad for your post, wantmore, and for this blog, since it drew me to this passage that I was unfamiliar with.
Jeremiah 31:33-34: "...I will put my law in their minds and write it on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people....." He will keep our hearts soft as He writes His story and His covenant of peace upon them. He will put His perfect peace in us as we meditate on His law, His Word. He will write a new story for us and, living in Him, we can be sure of perfect peace even amidst the rewriting of our story. Hallelujah!
