See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God!
And if you call on him as Father who judges impartially according to each one's deeds, conduct yourselves with fear throughout the time of your exile...1 Pet. 1:17And from the same author of 1st John:And he said with a loud voice, “Fear God and give him glory, because the hour of his judgment has come, and worship him who made heaven and earth, the sea and the springs of water.” - Rev 14:7I don't think any of these verses contradict each other. "Tis a lovely fear, this fearful love, that holds no head but Christ..."We don't fear eternal banishment from our Father, but even the "beloved" disciple, who leaned his head on Jesus' breast, in His presence, fell at His feet as a dead man.One type of fear is a "dread" another type is the fear we have in the presence of something awesome and mighty. Surely this type of fear will be, and should be experienced by his children.Just my two cents...- Johnno
